Low code API Testing for Microservices
We are very excited to start a new chapter in the OffNote Labs Talk Series this weekend. We will host the inaugural talk of the new OffNote Labs Systems Series with distinguished engineer and scientist Prasad Deshpande (Google, ex-IBM Research). He will talk about testing the complex mesh of micro services that constitute modern distributed systems, the challenges that arise and how to write low code, data-driven tests to find bugs early.
Look forward to seeing you at the talk!
Title: Fueling App Modernization - Low code API Testing for Microservices
Date: Dec 4th, 2021, 10am IST (GMT+5:30)

Many modern applications are built using a microservices pattern consisting of many services that work together to process any request. The complex dependencies between the services makes testing and debugging of such applications extremely difficult.
In this talk, we will explore some of the challenges that arise in such scenarios and present a low code data driven approach that enables rapid test creation with minimal coding effort from the developer. By accurately mocking upstream services, the tests can be run in the local IDE without the need for having all services running in the cluster. This enables the developer to identify bugs that are typically found during integration testing much earlier in the development lifecycle.
We will describe our experience and learnings while building such a tool at Mesh Dynamics.
Prasad Deshpande is an engineer and researcher with expertise in database systems, big data and analytics. He was at IBM Research for a long span, where he managed the Information Analytics Group and was a member of the IBM Academy of Technology. After IBM, he began his startup journey, being the CTO at IQLECT and co-founder of Alpha Analyst. His latest startup Mesh Dynamics, where he was a Co-founder and VP Engineering was acquired by Google. Currently he is a senior Engineering Leader at Google in the Ads domain.
He received his B. Tech in Computer Science from IIT Bombay and a PhD in Databases from University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is an ACM Distinguished Scientist and has more than 45 publications in reputed conferences and 25 patents.
We are super excited to host speakers on cutting-edge AI problems and Systems, who are passionate to share their knowledge with the world. Check out the earlier awesome talks in the OffNote Labs Talk Series on our Youtube channel.
